As you might have noticed from the last poll, OpenDCL needs a new logo. So we will again hold an open contest where users can submit there designs.
Rules:
1. The rules can change at anytime without notice.
2. Submit your design in this thread, to be included in the running.
3. DEADLINE: by Jan. 15, 2008.
4. FINALISTS: Depending on the number of entries, they will be narrowed down to the top 5 finalists (by a few of the top OpenDCL power users).
5. FORMAT: Attach 1 preview image (gif, jpg, png) @ 200x200, per post in this thread.
6. FINAL FORMAT: The top 5 finalists MUST provide a .PSD (Photoshop) or .PNG file with a true transparent background (NO white backgrounds please).
7. You can enter more then once, just create a new post for additional entries.
8. After the top 5 finalists have been chosen a new Poll will be posted here for public voting.
9. After the winner has been chosen, the OpenDCL development team has the right to use the new Logo as they wish.
10. THE PRIZE: Bragging rights to all your friends that you designed the Logo for a great piece of software for worldwide distribution . :)
11. Please try to be original. Don't copy other designs for the web.
12. This is open to the public, you don't need to be an active member of this forum. Just register & upload your design.
Good Luck

First concept of a new logo for OpenDCL. The idea was to create a simple, yet reconizable image at any size.

Here is the original classic logo with an updated 3D look. There are some tweeks that still need to happen, such as white boxex at the scroll or popdown.

Something about this simple logo from the last go around, I still like. So I thought I would upload it one more time.

Another concept... This one is based on building blocks of programming. Once again, trying to create a simple yet recognizable icon.

Barry, how does it look with a smaller pencil ? ie; so that the form is larger in the icon boundary.

Keeping with the KISS idea (Keep It Simple Stupid), I've come up with this colorful guy...
2 variations here, White text & Gray text.

Image 1 - 200 x 200
Image 1 - 16 x 16
Image 2 - 200 x 200
Image 2 - 16 x 16
And because I like red:
Image 1 RED - 200 x 200
Image 1 RED - 16 x 16
Maybe one more: a little more complex;
The dialog icon isn't as nice:
[Sorry JB, I was trying to split this post into 4 separate posts & I screwed it up. So I put it all back together here. BazzaCAD, Barry]

Another simple, easy to reconize logo concept. The sphere could be any color. Also there could be modifications to the text, but I was looking for something different.

Using the same sphere concept with Open DCL.

With time running out, I put together a simplified version of the classic logo in 3D. This could be expanded to look like a XP or Vista dialog.
