i uninstalled my last version and installed the new 5.0 version of the stuido
i replaced the old runtime arx files in my projects with the new ones and it will not work
when i load the run time it says runtime 4.2.1.0 loaded
when i load the project it fails
in the studio when i double click on the form to bring up the intelligent help and select
load_project,project_export,project_getforms,project_load,project_saveas,project_unload
i get that error to report to microsoft then the program closes
all other items are ok when selected even project_import.

also when i installed 5.0 i saved a project and now that i have uninstalled 5.0 and reinstalled my old one it will not open the project
please is there a way to retrieve it. it's alot of work to redo

i'm really really upset but still love the program
thanks
John,
I'm very sorry to hear you're having some issues with OpenDCL 5, however I have to say you where warned multiple times not to use the Alpha build with your production projects.

As I'm sure you know Alpha builds are even more unstable then Beta, & we're not even there yet.
However lets try to make you happier. :)
Can you please explain what you mean by "i replaced the old runtime arx files in my projects with the new ones and it will not work"
How are you loading the ARX? Is it in the startup suite of APPLOAD, are you using (ARXLOAD), or are you using the demand load from the studio (command "OPENDCL")?
If it says you're loading 4.2.1.0, then that's the version that's being loaded from somewhere else.
Do you have both the Studio & the run-time installed? The Studio will install the runtime for you...
It looks like you found a bug with the Int. Help for load_project,project_export,project_getforms,project_load,project_saveas,project_unload methods, so thx I'll post the bug.
That's why everyones patience with Alpha testing is so important.

I'm not sure if it's possible to save you project back to 4.1 or not.
You might want to try e-mailing your ODCL file to: owenw AT manusoft DOT com and asking him nicely if he has a way of converting it back to 4.1.
However I'm sure if you get the 5.0.0.2 run-time ARX loaded you're project should load fine.
I hope some of this helps.

As Barry has said, if you load the correct runtime your updated project files should work fine. Try manually deleting the old runtime files, then reinstall OpenDCL Studio version 5 and see if that resolves your problem.

If the updated runtime doesn't resolve the problem for you, you can restore the backup of your project file(s). When you save a project from OpenDCL Studio, it creates a .bak file of the previous version of your project. Just rename the .bak file to retrieve it.

This should also serve as a valuable lesson to always work on a copy of the .odcl file when testing alpha or beta builds of OpenDCL Studio.
