Display of full file path in title bar of Editor

I saw that sometime the titlebar of the editor window shows

- only the file name "test.odcl" and sometimes
- the full path "x:\project\mars\test.odcl"

What's the system behind it?

Just a guess, but maybe files in the current directory display without full path?

Hmmh - but what is "current"? Also the MRU-files in "file menu" are displayed with and without path .. ???
