Sexier forms

I am updating the UI on many of my lisp routines. My goal is to have them look less like a dull grey DCL form. I am aiming for a smartphone app type of look. For many I am getting great results. Users believe some are new tools  ;D

However, for some, it is proving to be a chore specifically with combo boxes. I am moving to listboxes where possible but ...

Any tips, tricks, or thoughts for my task would be appreciated...

I would love to know how you are accomplishing this personally, I am currently working on a tool and the interface, well it does look quite dated.
